After passing the "I Love Jesus" store, Michael and I came upon a small Buddhist temple in Wood Valley. It was strange, driving past cultivated fields and forestland only to round a bend and see Tibetan flags waving by the side of the road.
The temple was built by Japanese agricultural workers and had been visited by the Dalai Lama twice. Before entering, you were asked to remove your shoes. Then, the Monk at the temple lit some incense inside and let you meditate for as long as you wanted.
The inside was beautiful. In the center of the altar, there were some offerings: an apple, I think, and a few other things.
Afterwards, Michael and I ate a quick bite outside the temple. Michael had a close encounter with a peacock.
