About a mile from our humble abode are rocky cliffs that spill into the Pacific Ocean. Michael and I have been biking down to check out the water and waves (and sea turtles floating in the crests of the waves) after our daily tasks, and all through the weekend. There, the coastline isn't swimmable, but it is great to see.
Michael found this barnacle attached to the waves, and studied it furiously. Exciting, huh?
Here, you can see our pathway through the lush greenery in our neighborhood. The main road is paved, but all the side roads leading to the home plots are either gravel, like this one, or rich red earth.
On Saturday evening, Libby and
James took
geothermal pool. The water was
90 degrees in some places, and the
pool itself had a channel leading to
the ocean where the cool waves
regulated the temperature. There,
we watched the moon rise. On the
Mainland, you don't actually
watch the moon come from the
earth to settle overhead, but since
we're so close to the equator here
in the tropics, the moon actually
rises and sets just like the sun.
On our way, Libby showed Michael
some ukulele tunes in the back seat.
the Southeastern coastline. At this
point, there's nothing between us
and Antarctica. Crazy.
